THE STORY OF WHPY

For many years, 1590 AM served as a small community radio station, here in Clayton, NC.

In February 1995, Fellowship Baptist Church purchased the WHPY Radio Station and all its assets. Prior to becoming a ministry of Fellowship Baptist Church, the station had been broadcasting the Sunday Morning Worship Service of Fellowship Baptist Church for over 20 years. When the station became a ministry of FBC, the format changed from being a community station to a Christian station.

For many years the station served as an affiliate of the Fundamental Broadcasting Network (FBN) in Newport, NC, receiving their signal for rebroadcast via satellite. In 2021 WHPY, underwent a major studio upgrade, and the station went to a fully automated digital format.

While still maintaining a friendship with FBN, we now generate and broadcast all programming from our studios here at WHPY, in Clayton. WHPY, 1590 AM, is a listener supported, 24 hour a day, internet and AM, Family focused, Christian Radio Station. The mission of WHPY is the broadcasting of the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the encouraging and equipping of believers with quality, conservative Christian Music and sound Bible Preaching.

The WHPY Studio is located on the Fellowship Baptist Church property, 911 West Main Street, Clayton, NC. WHPY has two 165 ft. towers located on four acres of land just off Winston Road which is about three miles from the church property. This station can be heard via the internet @ whpyradio.com 24 hours a day and via AM signal across the greater Raleigh, NC region by tuning into 1590 AM on your radio dial.
